Zimbabwe Still Clear Of Coronavirus Cases – Health Minister

Health and Childcare Minister Obadiah Moyo said that there is no case of coronavirus that has been detected in the country.

Moyo added that Zimbabwe is on high alert and response systems have been activated at all the country’s 26 ports of entry.

Moyo, who was visiting Victoria Falls on Friday accompanied by his deputy, John Magwiro and other senior government officials, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness at the town’s airport. He said:

We are satisfied with preparations and we appreciate the alertness of members of staff including those at the airport, civil aviation, security and the other stakeholders to do with health.

The coronavirus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in early December last year and has affected almost 10 000 people worldwide, with over 200 people having died so far.

On January 30, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern and called for a coordinated global response to contain the virus.
