In case you have sent money to the wrong person, Ecocash introduced a reverse transaction feature that allows the user to reverse the transaction if they send money to the wrong number.
Here are some of the steps to follow to reverse the transaction
- Dial *150#
- Select option 3 for transaction reversal
- Select option 1 for reverse transaction
It is still not clear what a transaction reference is because a user will then have to put a transaction reference for the reversal to be complete on their part. It also is still not clear if charges will apply when transactions are being reversed.
For the reversal to be complete, the wrong number you sent money to will also use the same ussd *150# and select option 2 to approve the reversal. This means no one will buy an item via Ecocash and then reverse the transaction scamming the seller in the process. The seller will have to approve the transaction reversal for Econet to effectively reverse the transaction.
