ZACC Seeks To Retain Part Of The Recovered Looted Money To Fund Its Operations

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is seeking to retain part of its recovered proceeds from looted funds to fund its operations, Nehanda Radio reports. This was revealed at a Transparency International Zimbabwe (TIZ) Corruption Perceptions Index Results Report launch by ZACC Commissioner Jonh Makamure who said:

We are cognisant of the budgetary limitations, we are making proposals for retention of a percentage of assets recovery so that we are able to capacitate ZACC.

The fiscus will never be able to fund this anti-corruption fight. We all know that it’s not possible at the moment.

ZACC has been accused by the populace of catching and releasing criminals and ZACC defended their commission by saying their mandate starts and ends with catching criminals, prosecution is left to the National Prosecution Authority.

  1. The biggest form of corruption to take place in Zimbabwe is the blatant failure by many people, bigwigs included, to NOT PAY their ZESA Bill. These are the sort of people that ZACC should go after, and make sure that their electricity is turned off once and for all. I am on prepaid – if I don’t buy (Pay) I do not get any power. Simple as that. NO PAY – NO POWER.
