ZANU PF Youth League secretary, Lewis Matutu has tweeted suggesting that corruption was on the rise in Zimbabwe and no action was being taken to address it.
Without specifying who the individual to whom he was addressing his message, Matutu said:
My second message to someone making millions from the pain and suffering of hardworking Zimbabweans. This has to STOP! “The rates are going up bringing more suffering to the poor ordinary citizens, civil servants salaries will soon be worthless again whilst you’re making more money. How do you feel? Why can’t you just do proper and dignified business? Only those around you are making millions while our economy suffers, are you happy with that?”
Matutu previously released a list of individuals whom he said were sabotaging President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s efforts to revive the economy by engaging in underhand dealings and money-laundering.
The list consisted of a number of political elites and prominent business people and government officials including the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, John Mangudya and ZANU PF’s Secretary for Administration, Obert Mpofu.
President Mnangagwa promised that he would set up a commission of enquiry to look into the matter but up to now, nothing has happened.
