Grace Mugabe, Chombo & Chiyangwa Face Arrest Over Illegal Land Deals

Former First Lady Grace Mugabe, former Cabinet Minister Ignatius Chombo, ex-Cabinet minister Nyasha Chikwinya, businessman Philip Chiyangwa, former Harare South legislator Shadreck Mashayamombe are among at least 132 people facing arrest for various crimes related to land deals.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is after the named individuals following an audit report into Harare land sales by the commission of Inquiry led by Justice Tendai Uchena that traced land transfers in urban areas since 2005.

ZACC chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo on Wednesday confirmed that the Commission received a copy of the report. She said:

Yes, we were given a copy of the land audit report by the Commission and our general manager (investigations) is liaising with the police so that we know who is doing what to avoid stepping on each other’s toes when investigating.

We hope investigations will start on Monday after we have agreed on the cases that ZACC and the police will be investigating.

According to the report, Grace Mugabe allegedly grabbed stands at Carrick Creach Farm in Harare and transferred ownership into names of her relatives without payment.

Chombo is accused of corruptly facilitating Grace’s land grab as well as seizing several stands and registering them in the names of his three companies without paying for them.
