Temba Mliswa speaking at a beerhall in his constituency said MaShurugwi protectors were top government officials because they had the guts to commit these crimes in broad daylight without concealing their identities, The Standard reports.
Mliswa reportedly said:
They have the guts to operate in broad daylight without hiding their identities. They are well-protected by their lords in high government offices.
No one is safe in this country anymore but some of us will not be silenced. I know I am being targeted.
Mliswa’s sentiment echo those of many others including the MDC which belives some people in government are behind the machete-wielding gangs that have terrorised people in gold-rich areas.
