ZINARA Fires Over 200 Tolling Cashiers - REPORT

The Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) this week reportedly fired over 200 tolling cashiers under unclear circumstances.

ZINARA board chairperson Michael Madana has been accused of hand-picking unqualified people to replace those who were dismissed. Zim Morning Post quotes its source as saying:

Madana recruited his relatives who are not qualified for the posts.

He terminated the contracts of the tolling agents with no basis.

He is been purging employees and he and Saston Muzenda are creating their small empire at Zinara.

The new team is untrained and there is bound to be loss of revenue as they need to acclimatise with the system.

The dismissal of the tolling cashiers follows reports of maladministration at toll gates.

Meanwhile, tolling cashiers are reportedly earning a basic salary of $6 240 and a transport allowance of $660.00.
