Mzembi's Party Vows To Dethrone President Mnangagwa

Kukurigo, a Whatsapp-based publication has alleged that the newly formed party of former Cabinet Minister, Walter Mzembi has vowed to remove president Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government from power very soon.

The publication reports that the intended overthrow is, however, conditional as it depends on whether or not Mnangagwa’s administration implements economic and political reforms required to make the country eligible for international economic support.

In a statement, People First accused Mnangagwa of operating a “criminal” government and said it was ready to “take action to effect immediate change on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe.”

These remarks come when Zimbabwe is submerged under socio-economic and political crises which manifest through, for instance, the deteriorating democratic space, a huge deficit in food, fuel, power, and foreign currency.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has said that Zimbabwe is implementing the reforms, at its own pace, but, because they are necessary and not because his administration is being told to do so.

Observers have said that the rate at which these reforms which include electoral and media reforms are being implemented is encouraging.

The opposition MDC has vowed not to participate in the 2023 elections if electoral reforms have not been implemented, satisfactorily.
