"We Feel This Situation Has Gone Unresolved For Far Too Long," - Zimbabwean Fired Doctors

Zimbabwean fired doctors have said that the impasse between the government and themselves over unsustainable salaries and poor working conditions is no longer sustainable.

Doctors said that the standoff has resulted in the unnecessary death of many Zimbabweans as there was no one and no resources to save their lives.

These remarks were made by the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association’s Vice President, Dean Ndoro when doctors are on strike since the 3rd of September 2019. Speaking to the Daily News, Ndoro said:

We feel that this situation has gone unresolved for far too long and it has resulted in the death of many people, which could have been avoided had doctors’ incapacitation been resolved.

We know that some of the things such as availing necessary equipment and medication will take time, but the government needs to at least show commitment in resolving issues of remuneration because the salary we were being offered did not make sense given the current economic environment characterised by hyperinflation.

The government has so far failed to reach a consensus with workers who have turned down a number of government offers saying that they were too insignificant considering that the country has an inflationary economy.
