Kaitano Tembo Explains 'Tactical Change' In Win Over Kaizer Chiefs
SuperSport United head coach Kaitano Tembo said the substitution of Sipho Mbule at half-time in the 2-1 win over Absa Premiership pacesetters, Kaizer Chiefs, was a tactical decision.
Supersport was leading 1-0 at the break when the Zimbabwean hauled off Mbule for Thamsanqa Gabuza who went on to score the winning goal. Said Tembo about the change:
It was a tactical decision. We had to bring in Gabuza. We knew that we will always have Gabuza in the bag pocket that’s why he was on the bench so that he can change the dimension of our attack.
FeedbackSuperSport drew first blood in the night minute through Bradley Grobler’s header from close range. Daniel Cardoso then stepped up and beat his Bafana Bafana teammate Ronwen Williams from the spot-kick to make it 1-1 in the 48th minute.
Matsatsantsa, however, was not to be denied victory, with Gabuza turning home Kudakwashe Mahachi’s cross to make it 2-1 in the 62nd minute.
