Mercedes-Benz Driver Surrenders Himself To Police After Pedestrian Dies In Hit And Run Incident
The driver of a Mercedes-Benz (registration number ADJ 3334), who allegedly sped off after he fatally knocked down a pedestrian, has handed himself over to the police.
The driver killed the pedestrian on New Year’s Day along Princess Road opposite Belvedere Maternity Hospital and the police had been on his trail since the incident.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the driver is being charged with culpable homicide and failing to stop after a road accident.
In another incident, police are looking for a silver Honda Fit (registration number AET 0890) which was involved in a hit and run accident on New Year’s Day along Tafara Way in Mabvuku.
The driver of the vehicle knocked down two pedestrians and did not stop after the accident.
