Five police officers stationed at the Harare Central Police Station have appeared before Harare Magistrate’s Court facing charges of theft involving over US$10 000.
The state alleges the accused, Walter Mapfumo, Simbarashe Ndungwa, Erasmus Shoniwa, Archby Mano and Webster Ticharwa approached the complainant whom they arrested for an undisclosed crime.
The complainant who had US$18 060 which he intended to give someone was taken to Harare Central Police Station where another officer was assigned to count the money before releasing he was released.
He discovered upon his release that US$ 10 000 was missing and he reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.
The accused are out on $500 bail each.
