Reporter Says Government's 2020 Projections On The Economy Are Wrong

Zimbabwean journalist, Zenzele Ndebele has said that Zimbabwe will not experience a better year as projected by the government for as long as the leadership in the country remains the same.

Posting on Twitter on the 1st of January when the nation is celebrating the New Year, Zenzele said:

As long we have the same leadership no economy will turn around.

His remarks come after the Herald has reported that a cocktail of government initiatives which are reportedly being implemented will work towards the transformation of the economy.

Zenzele’s remarks are consistent with those of many other analysts who have observed that the current administration lacks the enthusiasm to address issues affecting the country.

President Mnangagwa conceded a few months ago that while Zimbabwe has resources which can make it sustainable, systemic corruption which is deeply rooted in government institutions was choking any development initiative.

Zimbabwe is currently submerged under serious socioeconomic challenges including inflation, cash shortages, fuel shortages, power shortages and severe starvation.
