MaShurugwi Kill Police Officer In Suspected Revenge Mission

A Machete-Wielding group known as “Team Barca” which were formally led by the gang leader who was killed in a gun exchange with the police near David Whitehead last month fatally hacked and clubbed a police officer at Battlefields mine on Saturday The Herald reports.

The officer, Wonder Hokoyo (27) and his colleague who was seriously injured in the attack, were defending Good Hope Mine workers from a marauding gang armed with machetes and logs and catapults.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and Kwekwe‘s Assistant Commissioner  Muswere spoke to the publication and said:

We have dispatched our Support Unit, DRG and dog section into the area to make a follow up on yesterday’s (Saturday) incident. Everyone is on the ground and we are looking for leads. This operation will bring the culprits to book,

  1. If you had sent paramilitary units to round them up in the first place that could have helped matters a lot. That would have sent a strong signal of the mighty of the state. Your actions are greatly undermining the sanctity of state power.
