Govt Appoints A 6 Member Commission To Assess Rusape Town's Readiness To Be Awarded A City Status

Rusape Town Council’s bid to be awarded a municipal status has received a green light from the govt as the later appointed a 6 member commission to assess its readiness, the Herald reports.

This was revealed in govt Gazzete that was published on Friday which read in part:

It is hereby notified, in terms of Section 14 of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15), that pursuant to the application for municipality status by Rusape Town Council, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works (Cde July Moyo) has appointed the persons in the schedule as members of the commission to assess the town council’s state of preparedness for municipality status.

Rusape is approximately 183 kilometres east of Harare on the Harare-Mutare highway,
