"War Veterans Now Part Of The ZANU PF Main Body, Not Affiliates," ZANU PF Official

ZANU PF political commissar, Victor Matemadanda has said that the just-ended ZANU PF 18th Annual People’s Conference resolved that War Veterans become a wing of the ruling party.

This is a clear departure from the current situation where they would be regarded as attachments who would be needed to “support” the party whenever necessary.

Speaking to the Herald, Matemadanda who is also the Deputy Minister of Defence reiterated President Emmerson’s remarks made at the conference saying:

The major take away for war veterans at the conference is that they now become part of the Zanu-PF body and they are no longer participating as affiliates, but as part of the party’s structures,.

They are now part of the main body. Their influence now comes to the party directly and not as stakeholders anymore and they bring with them needed experience.

He added that they will be responsible for implementation of party policies and programmes.

War Veterans have been complaining over the past years that they were being neglected by politicians despite their immense contribution to the independence of this country.

They claimed that whilst they were still languishing in poverty as their gratuities are very insignificant, their colleagues in government and ZANU PF were living large.
