"MPs And Party Leadership Abandoning People And Grassroots Structures," ZANU PF Youth League

ZANU PF Youth League Assembly has accused party leadership and legislators of abandoning the grassroots structures and supporters.

The league told the central committee meeting that youths and other party supporters needed to be cushioned from the bumps of life caused by the deteriorating economy. The youth league said:

There is an information gap between the party and the grassroots caused by the abandonment of the constituencies and structures by Members of Parliament and party leadership respectively.

Commodity prices have been continuously rising unjustifiably and are affecting the morale of the electorate. We request for deliberate efforts in cushioning the youths against economic hardships by creating safety nets for youth through funding of empowerment projects.

These remarks come a few days after Norton legislator (independent), Temba Mliswa claimed that voter turnout has been deteriorating over the years due politicians’ neglect of their duties, responsibilities and preelection promises.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa also recently emphasised the need for the governing party to “pay attention to the plight of the ordinary people in constrained conditions, by caring for them and offering them help, with love and respect” saying that they were the water within which the party (fish) swims.
