Rainbow Towers Closes Accommodation Wings For Renovations

The Rainbow Tourism Group has closed Rainbow Towers accommodation wings as the hotel starts to renovate 183 out of 305 of its rooms, the Daily News reports. HICC, restaurants and all food outlets will be open for business throughout the season.

Speaking about the US$3 Million refurbishments, RTG Operations Director Tichaona Hwingwiri said:

This project will include the installation of two high-tech guest elevators with a security key card access system to complement the modernisation programme, thus the magnitude of the refurbishment project will require the temporary closure of the hotel’s guest rooms and hotel side conference facilities.

The timing for the refurbishment is strategic in that this is the low season for city hotels as most activities are for business and NGOs, which close down over the festive season and during this time occupancies are generally low with more focus placed on selling the food and beverage offerings.

The Group reportedly refurbished the other 122 rooms these past 2 years.
