ZANU PF Wins Tongogara Rural District Council Ward 6 By-election, ZESN Issues Preliminary Statement

The Zimbabwe Electoral Support Network has issued a preliminary statement following ZANU PF victory in the Tongogara Rural Council Ward 6 by-election held on the 15th of December.

The by-election was held in accordance with section 121A of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13) following the death of the previous councillor, Edward Chitera, who was elected on a ZANU-PF ticket in the July 31, 2018, harmonised elections.

ZESN observed that the by-election which was won by ZANU-PF’s Addmore Chitera with 396 votes compared to 16 votes received by the MDC Alliance’s Marry Choga was held according to the law.
