Marry Chiwenga Fights Kaondera's $700 000 Damages Claim

The wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Marry Chiwenga, nee Mubaiwa, will defend a $700,000 damages claim filed by her former husband Shingi Kaondera whom she divorced nine years ago.

According to ZimLive, Chiwenga, in her 36-year-old defence plea submitted to the High Court on November 14, questions why Kaondera waited for close to nine years before he filed the claim. Part of her plea reads:

The plaintiff (Kaondera) was not opposed to the order of divorce being granted on the terms granted otherwise he would not have waited for nine years to raise these false and malicious allegations.

Kaondera initiated the claim in July, accusing Marry of forging his signature and deceiving a court to grant her a divorce while he was in Cyprus where he was a football player.

The former Warriors striker said Marry fraudulently obtained the divorce as he was never served with a divorce summons.
