Mliswa Tips Chamisa To Take Over From Mnangagwa

Outspoken Norton Member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa believes that MDC president Nelson Chamisa will take over the leadership of the country when President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s two terms expire in 2028.

Speaking to NewsDay on Tuesday, Mliswa said a young leader will succeed Mnangagwa and of all young politicians, Chamisa was the most placed to become Zimbabwe’s next President. Said Mliswa:

After 2028, it will be the young people who will be given the chance and, of course, the most prominent young person that you have in politics is Nelson Chamisa, to be honest with you… he will definitely get his chance one day but for now, let’s support the President and when his time is over then we will also support Chamisa.

The ruling ZANU PF party has already endorsed Mnangagwa to run for a second term in the next elections due to be held in 2023.

Meanwhile, some ZANU PF officials are reportedly keen on removing the constitutional clause that limits an individual to two terms only so that Mnangagwa will be able to run for the presidency beyond 2028 following his remarks that “2030 ndeendichipo” (I will still be around).
