As a gesture of goodwill, millers had already started to reduce prices. Unfortunately, our members are financially handicapped to continue selling at the subsidised prices in the absence of the subsidies be- ing paid upfront as agreed.
Accordingly, unless the said funds are provided today (yesterday), our members will have no choice but to revert to previous prices on Thursday, 12 December 2019.
Last week, Ncube directed retailers to sell mealie meal at reduced prices, with a 10kg bag priced at $50. The directive followed a sharp price hike by retailers who were selling 10kg of mealie meal at $100.
