2018 Presidential Candidate Joins ZANU PF

An independent presidential candidate in the 2018 presidential elections, Bryan Taurai Mteki has joined the ruling ZANU PF saying that he has realised that there is only one president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

This was revealed by ZBC News who posted on Twitter on Monday saying:

Independent Presidential candidate Bryan Taurai Mteki says he has rejoined Zanu Pf after realising there is only on President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mteki was part of POLAD, a dialogue platform initiated by Mnangagwa where most of the presidential candidates in the 2018 elections are participating.

The opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa snubbed POLAD saying no results were coming out of the platform where members accused of being ZANU PF agents are participating.

  1. The suggestion by Gutu to come up with legislation to prevent One-Man band political parties shows that him and his organisation are too greedy for polical capital. What is he afraid of.He thinks the political space belongs to only two political parties which is MDC and Zanu. They see themselves loosing support if other parties participate in the electoral process. The MDC has not been able to be strategic to remove Zanu from power so there is enough reason to panic that if political participation is broadened MDC might lose some support to new parties.Broader political participation should be encouraged because this is the democracy we always talk about.
