Zim Lobbying For The Removal Of Trophy Import Bans

Zimbabwe is lobbying for the removal of Cecil Act which seeks to ban hunting trophies from Africa, the Sunday Mail reports.

The govt has reportedly engaged US Wildlife Agencies to lobby for the cause on their behalf. This was revealed by Mr Fundira the chairman for the Zimbabwe Safari Operators who said:

They made an undertaking that they will lobby the House of Representatives. We decided to use the Americans themselves to lobby against the law. I am almost certain that the law will not be passed by the US House of Representatives.

The Cecil Act came to be in 2015 when Cecil the lion was killed by a US-based dentist who was trophy hunting in Zimbabwe.
