Minister Of Energy Explains Last Week's Constrained Fuel Supply

The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Fortune Chasi informed Cabinet that the fuel supply situation was constrained in the past week due to the depressed uplifts which were experienced early in the week and the previous week.

Long queues resurfaced at fuel stations with some attributed the development to a scarcity of fuel which has been an alternative source of energy as power cuts continue.

Chasi also indicated that the situation had since improved following the interventions which were done by the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC).

After the NOIC implemented 24 loadings at its depots, the daily uplifts had surpassed the daily consumption rates of five million litres combined product.

This is happening when the festive season is fast approaching, something that could cause panic since, traditional, the period is characterised by high demand for fuel.
