"China Will Take Further Steps If Necessary," As China Bans US Navy From Visiting Hong Kong

The People’s Republic of China has suspended the United States navy, indefinitely, from visiting Hong Kong and also sanctioned some US Headquartered NGOs accusing the Western country of interfering in China’s domestic affairs.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying announced the measures at a daily news briefing in Beijing on Monday following US’s legislation passed last week which supports anti-government protesters. Chunying said:

We urge the U.S. to correct the mistakes and stop interfering in our internal affairs. China will take further steps if necessary to uphold Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity and China’s sovereignty.

The Asian country last week promised to issue firm countermeasures against the USA whose President, Donald Trump signed into law the “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act,” which supports anti-government protesters in Hong Kong and threatens China with potential sanctions.

Fears abound over the potential of the latest developments to frustrate efforts by the two countries to reach a preliminary deal that could de-escalate a prolonged trade war between the two countries.

Tensions between the two countries are likely to send a shock wave globally considering that the two countries are major powers on both the geopolitics and geoeconomics arenas.
