Gerhard Friedrich Georg Declared A Liberation War Hero

Gerhard Friedrich Georg, who died last Monday at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo had been conferred with national hero status, The Chronicle reports.

According to the publication, Zanu PF’s Obert Mpofu confirmed the news to them in a statement:

His Excellency, the President and First Secretary to Zanu-PF, Cde Mnangagwa, has conferred liberation war hero status to the late Cde Gerhard Friedrich who died on November 25, 2019.

Gerhard was 90 and was the late VP Joshua Nkomo’s friend. The commercial farmer was buried in Bulawayo at Umvutshwa Park Cemetery
