City Of Harare Facing Acute Shortage Of Water Treatment Chemicals

In a statement on Monday, Harare City Council said that several High-Density suburbs had running water restored on Monday morning.

These are Kuwadzana, Kuwadzana Extension, Glen Norah, Glen View, Kambuzuma, Mufakose and Kuwadzana Phase Three.

The Council added that Milton Park, Sunningdale, Mbare, Highfields and the C.B.D and Avenues are also accessing water.

However, Mabvuku and Tafara could not access water over the weekend as anticipated due to erratic power supplies at Letombo pump station.

The council revealed that further urgent payments for chemicals are required to ensure the resumption of deliveries by suppliers so as to ensure that there are adequate chemicals during the period between mid-December and mid-January.

Council warned that if no payments for chemicals are made as a matter of urgency, Morton Jaffray will have to scale down on production from the current 250 megalitres per day so as to stretch the little chemicals that are available.
