Soldier Flees Into Mozambique With A Brigadier General's Car - REPORT

A Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) driver reportedly stole Brigadier General George Chisvo’s car and drove from Mutare into Mozambique and vowed never to return to Zimbabwe.

According to Zim Morning Post, Chisvo, who commands 3 Brigade, was called later by his official driver who informed him that he was in Mozambique and would longer return to Zimbabwe.

This comes after a related case of soldier indiscipline occurred at State House recently where an officer fired his rifle in the air in protest over the current economic environment.

The soldier was promptly arrested by his colleagues and taken for psychiatric evaluation by his superiors for his antics.

On Friday last week, commander Lieutenant-General Edzai Chimonyo summoned military officers from the rank of corporal upwards for a staff meeting to address indiscipline, theft of rations and criminal activities involving soldiers.
