China’s deputy ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhao Baogang, has warned against always accusing investors of being looters saying that those remarks scare them away. He was explaining how China managed to develop at a rapid speed.
He also recommended continuous monitoring and evaluation of legal frameworks so as to identify and scrap off legislations which restrain investment.

The unfortunate practice by the Chinese, in particular, is that they almost always bring more than half the workforce and are hardly involved in the primary industry but bring into the country finished products. What we need are both primary and secondary industries and their infrastructure. I have seen one so-called investor buy some products from the then National Foods, repackage and rebrand. Those are some of the practices which tarnish their kind of investments.
