Our Police Are Not Brutal, They Respect The People – Kazembe

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe said that contrary to some reports, Zimbabwe Republic Police officers are not brutal.

Speaking to the media after a tour of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and Police General Headquarters on Wednesday where he was briefed by senior officers, Kazembe said:

I want us to look at other nations, I will not mention names, at what they do when people behave in the manner that our people sometimes behave. You will realise that Zimbabwe is not anywhere near that.

What I have realised is that our police respect the people and they are not brutal. What other people do is that they ignore the police when they try to contain the situation.

Kazembe pledged to address all the challenges the force is facing during his tenure.

Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga appraised Kazembe of the problems the police is facing which include a shortage of office and accommodation, limited budgetary allocations, shortages of stationery and uniforms, shortages of transport and fuel.

  1. This is bullshit

I wish bad things against this stupid minister who forgets that one day he will pay for what he is doing to the people

    One day Mr Minister

    Look at Kasukuwere

    Look at Jonathan Moyo

  2. There may well be countries where the police are more brutal than in Zim. Is that our point of reference?
Look at some of the countries in this past year where citizens have taken to the streets for weeks, months and the police retaliation after all this time has been minimal compared to the ZRP who will beat anything that moves. Innocent bystanders are not exempt. What happened to Doug Coltart?
