Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, FC Platinum (FCP), said they have now come of age and are ready to face Sudanese football giants Al Hilal.
Addressing Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Sudan, Emmanuel Gumbo at his official residence on Thursday where the team had paid a courtesy call, FCP general manager, Joseph Mususa, said:
Come hell, come thunder, we will prove to Africa that we deserve to be called champions, as our slogan says.
On behalf of the club, I want to thank you and the entire staff for this gesture, I take this time to assure you, sir, that we will do our best.
FCP take on the Sudanese champions in the Group B opener tonight. The match kicks off at 9 pm.
FCP failed to go beyond the group stages last season after they were put in the same group with South African side Orlando Pirates, Horoya of Guinea and Esperance of Tunisia.
