ZIFA President And His Acting Deputy Arrested

The president of the Zimbabwe Football Association, Felton Kamambo and his acting deputy Phillip Machana have been arrested on allegations of sending false telephone messages causing annoyance to their predecessor Phillip Chiyangwa.

The duo has since appeared in court separately facing charges of violating the Postal and Telecommunications Act after they sent “annoying” messages to Chiyangwa on the 19th of November. The alleged message read:

Hie President. You are urged to stop your funny and negative interferences with football meanwhile urgently start accounting for all Zifa money you stole.

Harare magistrate Mrs Victoria Mashamba freed the duo on $500 bail each ordering them to continue residing at their given addresses, not to interfere with witnesses and to stop sending text messages to Chiyangwa.

The magistrate also ordered the accused to report once a week at their nearest police stations until they are back in court on January 9, 2020, for trial commencement.
