"Do You Expect The Police To Fold Their Arms," Zimbabwe Opposition Political Leader

An opposition leader in Zimbabwe has defended police brutality against MDC Alliance supporters saying it was necessary since they were dealing with a violent organisation.

Obert Gutu, Vice President of the opposition MDC led by Dr Thokozani Khupe was speaking after the police violently dispersed MDC supporters and reporters who were gathered at Morgan Tsvangirai House where MDC-A leader, advocate Nelson Chamisa was delivering his Hope of The Nation Address this Wednesday. Posting on Twitter, Gutu said:

What do you expect the Police to do when they’re dealing with a renegade, violent, terrorist organisation? Do you expect the Police to fold their arms & watch as violent hooligans run amok?

Come on! Give us a break!

Gutu used to be the spokesperson of the MDC during the time of the late founding father of the party, former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.
