MDC-T vice president Obert Gutu has lauded Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube as the best Treasury chief since the late Bernard Chidzero and the late Ariston Chambati.
Gutu, who has been an ardent supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government since the commencement of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) last year, expressed his sentiments on Twitter. He wrote:
Mthuli Ncube arguably remains the most astute and able Finance Minister that Zimbabwe has ever had since the days of the late Bernard Chidzero and the late Ariston Chambati.
Notable finance ministers since the duo mentioned by Gutu include Simba Makoni, Herbert Murerwa, Samuel Mumbengegwi, Chris Kuruneri, Patrick Chinamasa, Tendai Biti (during the GNU era), and Ignatius Chombo, whose tenure was cut short prematurely by the November 2017 military coup.
Most of Gutu’s followers were however incensed by his remarks, with some labelling him a “Murakashi”, a term that refers to the government’s apologists and propagandists on social media.

Correct, Chidzero was excellent, and highly respected. But all that have followed, with the exception of Biti, have all been crap!

l really agree with Mr Gutu that Ncube is the best Finance Minister ever Zimbabwe has had.Quick fix doesnt work when you are building an economy that was not functioning at all,remember it was buying and selling that was at play even big companies were importing and goods as if they were producing the goods themselves.Now people were used to quick profits to some extent 400% profit and the environment is toxic in terms of politics,negative media,corruption in all sectors,even in the village and the of zimbabweans of knowing it all and sanctions that makes it very difficult for a lot of private companies to procure loans for retooling and production from offshore lenders.Zimbabweans let be realistic and work together for the of all zimbabweans ,those in Zanu pf and Mdc Alliance who do not suport Ncube we know the reason why you are doing so,they will be always be suffering when you are reconstructing an economy that was destroyed by corruption and greedy.
