President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed gratitude to about 6 000 ZANU PF supporters who came for a rally he addressed at Mahusekwa Growth Point in Mashonaland East province on Saturday.
Mnangagwa had earlier officiated at the opening of Mahusekwa District Hospital before addressing the rally. He said:
I came here for the official opening of this hospital at the invitation of (Health) minister Obadiah Moyo but was told that the Zanu PF family wants to meet me.
I want to thank you for the love you have exhibited. I also want to thank you for the massive numbers here.
Mnangagwa was forced to address a paltry crowd at the National Sports Stadium last month during an anti-sanctions campaign rally.
Zimbabweans stayed away from the arena in their thousands, leaving officials embarrassed by the low turnout after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on food and drinks for the anticipated crowd.
