ECOCASH Asks For Customers’ Patience As Upgrade Is Hit By Glitches

Ecocash, the largest mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service in Zimbabwe has asked for customers’ patience as they deal with “stability issues to optimise the availability of various EcoCash services across the new platform”.

The development came after Ecocash “successfully implemented the planned upgrade of EcoCash to a new, more secure platform” between Saturday night and Sunday, a development which saw some services including the option to buy airtime and data products with EcoCash missing from lists and the platform was also down in shops.

Posting on social media, Ecocash asked for patience saying:

  1. Change your entire IT department! Hopeless totally – how can Ecocash, the largest mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and micro financing service in Zimbabwe allow such long periods of being offline ? Countless business transaction lost over 2.5 days for a We are a laughing stock on software implementation and systems up grades. Econnet, Zimra customs and excise all experiencing system challenges . What is happening with all our learned PHDs and graduates that were trained and skilled to know how to deal with such issues?????????

  2. “Intermittent challenges” is totally inaccurate call it total failure! Half hearted apology that means nothing. Action speakes louder than words – this is not the first time
