Some Traditional Leaders Vote For Chief Ndiweni’s Removal From Office

Some Matabeleland Chiefs, believed to be ED’s sympathisers have voted for the removal of controversial govt critic Chief Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni from office VOA reports.

The publication spoke to some Chiefs who wanted to remain anonymous from Binga and Mat North who moved that the chief must be removed and were backed by others believed to be the president’s sympathisers.

However, some chiefs were adamant that the traditional leader is going nowhere. A chief who was qouted by the publication said:

We want to be very clear on this issue … Ndiweni is not stepping down. The people who moved this motion don’t understand how we chose chiefs. They are government lapdogs. We can’t sit back and think things are normal. Ndiweni is being targeted by the government for being open-minded. Nothing else.

This is a big disgrace. We the Ngunis know that Ndiweni’s family chose him as heir to the throne. It’s only the Ndiweni family members who can do this. We know that some politicians is behind this.

Chief Ndiweni was recently released from prison on bail after he was convicted of destroying one of his subjects’ property together with his 22 subjects.
