The Army Will Never Compromise Its Constitutional Mandate Of Safeguarding The Sovereignty Of The Country - Singizi
A senior Army official Bragedier General Singizi has said, the army will defend the country’s sovereignty at all times. Singizi was speaking at a handover-takeover parade of the commanding officer of 1 Field Regiment held at 2 Infantry Brigade in Harare when he said:
As the ZNA we all have a constitutional mandate of defending Zimbabwe’s sovereignty against both local and external forces of negativity and their sponsors in order to create a conducive environment for our people.
The army was instrumental in the 2017 coup that ousted the late former president Mugabe and was behind the killings of 6 unarmed civilians on 1 August last year and 12 others during the January protests this year.
