The Finance Minister has said his ministry will not tolerate lawlessness and allow cash barons to go unpunished the Daily News reports. Mthili’s remarks came as he was addressing captains of the industry during a post-budget briefing breakfast meeting in Harare when he said:
In terms of the new notes that are already circulating on the black market, we are not going to tolerate this lawless- ness. I’m sure you have seen how the RBZ governor has responded.
He responded swiftly and further action will be taken against those found guilty. That is the kind of approach we are going to be taking against corrupt individuals,
Mthuli was referring to allegations that the Ecobank and CBZ were already siphoning money to the black market a day after the new notes were disbursed by the RBZ.
