ZIFA Sheds Light On Warriors Kit Situation

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Communications Officer, Xolisani Gwesela, has refuted media reports claiming that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has sequestrated Warriors jerseys meant for the AFCON qualifier against Botswana.

In a telephone interview with Soccer24 on Friday morning, Gwesela revealed that the Warriors already have their jerseys for tonight’s game. He said:

ZIMRA did not impound any Warriors kit. Umbro sends various consignments in batches to ZIFA and those consignments are the ones at ZIMRA offices, not the Warriors kit.

I’m not aware of any impound and the Warriors already have their jerseys for the Botswana game.

On Thursday, a local daily publication reported that ZIFA was desperately trying to get the equipment from Umbro, which they believed should be exempted from paying the duty.

  1. its clear u do not want to pay duty for it so u bag that money, its okay, its your modus operandi, keep up the good work!

  2. Why do journalists rush to report the wrong information? What will they be trying to prove by not verifying the truth, how do they gather their information? I find this very unprofessional and unethical, to say the least.
