Earthquake Monitoring Instruments Installed In Manicaland
The Meteorological Services Department has set up seismography instruments in Manicaland so as to detect earthquakes in the region.
The development comes after the region was left devastated by Tropical Cyclone Idai which claimed the lives of many residents.
Manicaland Civil Protection Unit chairperson, Edgars Seenza revealed the development saying that instruments relay messages to other seismology instruments in Bulawayo. Seenza said:
Government is now closely monitoring the region with the assistance of the Meteorological Service Department which is now setting up seismography instruments across the region.
With local residents refusing to be moved from their traditional lands, safety concerns were raised since the province is prone to recurring natural disasters.
