Chamisa: Zimbabwe Has Been Turned Into A Police State

MDC president Nelson Chamisa says President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made Zimbabwe a police state where everyone considered a criminal.

Chamisa condemned Mnangagwa’s “failed leadership” which has resulted in police officers being deployed onto the streets every day. Said Chamisa:

The country is now threatened by those in authority. We are in a de facto state of emergency; a de facto police state. Everyone has become a criminal. We cannot have the police every day fighting with the people on the street.

Chamisa made the comments on Thursday following the heavy deployment of police in Harare on Wednesday to thwart a demonstration by civil servants.

On Wednesday police barricaded the way to government offices to prevent a group of impoverished civil servants from handing over petitions to their employer.
