“We Need More Players” – POTRAZ

Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe’s director-general, Dr Gift Machengete told ZBCtv this week that more players were required in the telecommunications sector to facilitate affordable charges. He said:

We have not reached that point of over-saturation because what we need are more players.

His remarks come when the telecommunications sector is largely dominated by a few players namely, Econet Wireless, NetOne, Telecel and TelOne.

Machengete believes that more players in the telecoms business will certainly result in reduced prices of services.

However, there are some analysts who argue that Zimbabwe does not need other players.
