Joram Gumbo Released, To Spend Night At Home
The former Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development and Minister in the President’s Office in Charge of Policy Implementation Jorum Gumbo has been released following his arrest by the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC) earlier on Monday.
Gumbo was arrested for criminal abuse of office during his time as Transport minister during the presidency of the late Robert Mugabe.
He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
Commenting on Jumbo’s arrest earlier in the day, academic and law expert, Alex Magaisa wrote on Twitter:
Never mind the catch and release game with Jorum Gumbo. We are used to that charade. Surely, the priority must be to get back the money? US$2.7 million paid to First Fuel but the fuel was never supplied? Who owns First Fuel? A lot can be done with US$2.7 million.
