The Finance Minister has revealed that the govt is seriously considering transforming Ekusileni Medical Center In Bulawayo into a cancer referral unit for Zimbabwe, the Chronicle reports.
Mthuli Ncube was speaking at the 2019 pre-budget seminar in Victoria Falls when he asked the parliament to give him permission to reopen the medical facility when he said:
Non-communicable diseases particularly cancer are a big issue. But my plea is, allow me to put a budget for Ekusileni Medical Centre in Bulawayo so it can become a cancer referral hospital for our country. Just instruct me. If you say yes I will do it.
Ekusileni Medical Center was the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo‘s brainchild and has been closed for close to 2 decades now for various reasons.
