Pressure Mounts On ED To Reshuffle Cabinet; Mthuli, Chasi Under The Spotlight

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is under increasing pressure from senior ZANU PF officials and the top military brass to reshuffle his cabinet, The Independent claims.

The publication quotes an unnamed senior government official as saying that Mthuli Ncube and Fortune Chasi, Ministers for Finance and Economic Development and Energy and Power development respectively, are in the line of fire due to the economic implosion and debilitating energy and power crises. Said the official:

Although Mthuli (Ncube) is liked by Mnangagwa, he appears to be the one targeted the most by Zanu PF officials. They seem to have lost all faith in him.

The army has also been giving out very negative reports about his economic policies of late. He however enjoys support from the President himself as of now.

Chasi has reportedly been summoned by the President a few times to explain his plans even though he was not in Mnangagwa’s original post-election cabinet.

Transport Minister, Joel Biggie Matiza is also thought to be under pressure to deliver on key projects such as the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) recapitalisation and the rehabilitation of the Beitbridge-Chirundu highway.

  1. Since ED is totally bereft of ideas on how to fix this place (remember he gave the job to God the other day), he will not know a good guy from a stupid guy, so we will get the same old s…t again. Just now this place is going to finally collapse (when the last “new” $5 note comes out of the ATM).
