Council To Discontinue Harare City F.C. Sponsorship
Harare mayor councillor Herbert Gomba said that council will no longer bankroll its football club, Harare City FC and will use the funds to improve service delivery.
Gomba disclosed this on Tuesday during his State of the City address. He said:
We are no longer going to continue sponsoring Harare City FC as we have other priorities.
FeedbackFor next season, I appeal to Harare City FC to look for sponsorship somewhere else and not from us.
The announcement was met with ecstasy by Harare residents, with Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) saying that inasmuch as it was important to sponsor sports development, service delivery should take precedence.
