Ministry Of Health Officials Are Being Paid For Doing Nothing - Junior Doctors

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) acting secretary-general Dr Mthabisi Anele Bhebhe has accused Ministry of Health and Child Care officials for sleeping on duty while they are being paid.

This comes as junior doctors at the country’s public health institutions have been incapacitated for close to two months with hospitals essentially no longer functioning. In a post on Twitter, Dr Bhebhe wrote:

One will then ask what really are the officials at the Ministry of Health and Child Care doing in their offices daily.

As it is, there’s absolutely no health system to run currently in Zimbabwe. They’re being paid for sleeping on the job daily.

Meanwhile, the Senior Hospital Doctors Association (SHDA) has expressed its disappointment in the government’s failure to address their “legitimate” demands of sustainable salaries and safe working conditions.

The association further condemned the government for committing a silent genocide by its failure to address the deplorable situation at public health institutions.
