Warriors Manager Speaks On Bonne Macauley's Passport Saga

The Zimbabwe Football Association has revealed that the process to get England-based Warriors striker, Bonne Macauley, a Zimbabwean passport was now at an advanced stage after the intervention of Sports Minister, Kirsty Coventry.

Bonne who plies his trade for English Championship side, Charlton Athletic, was born in England to Zimbabwean parents.

New laws demand that he has to renounce his British citizenship first if he has to get a Zimbabwean passport.

The 24-year-old striker was eligible to play for England but he chose to play for Zimbabwe.

Speaking to the Herald in an interview, Zimbabwe Warriors team manager, Wellington Mpandare said that he was convinced there will be some positive results soon. He said:

We have received support from the Minister of Sport (Kirsty Coventry), and we have taken the documents where they are supposed to be, and we are confident that something will happen in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Bonne was named in the Warriors provisional squad for the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers due slated for next month.
